Halloween Hunt is part of the Tennessee State Park Running tour. This is the 41th year of the State Parks Running Tour, the longest state parks running series in the U.S. It consists of 20 road races, with distances varying from 5 to 13 miles. All races are held on Saturdays from October to March at 11 AM local time in 20 different State Parks, located from Memphis to Kingsport.
These events are sponsored by local running clubs, which are responsible for registration, timing and results. The State Parks provide facilities, race security and traffic control. Walkers are welcome and allowed an early start at 10 AM (slower than 13 minutes per mile). They are recorded as runners in the results. The total number of participants last season was 2,590.
On Highway 171 at Percy Priest Lake between LaVergne and Mt Juliet. From Nashville, take either I-40 East to Mt Juliet exit 226 and go South 7 miles, or alternate take I-24 to Old Hickory Blvd exit 62 and go East for 7 miles. Turn to Couchville Lake picnic shelter (1 mile). Park information at 615-885-2422.
Start and Finish
At the picnic shelter parking lot. The race starts at 11:00 a.m. central time
Goes out and back one quarter mile, then loops Couchville Lake twice. Water at miles 1 and 3.
Ten-year age groups with 3 awards in each category from 10 to 80+. Special awards to male and female overall winners.
Starts at 12:30 p.m. with refreshments (gourmet hot dogs).
